A Career Built Inside the Academic System
I’ve spent my career inside universities, teaching, researching, leading people, shaping strategy, and navigating the complex systems that define academic life. I have been a research institute Director, an Executive Dean and interim Deputy Vice Chancellor Research & Enterprise as well as a member of the ARC College of Experts. These roles have given me a deep, lived understanding of how universities and research works structurally, politically and culturally.
Over time, I’ve seen how easily the pieces of an academic career can drift out of alignment: identity, values, wellbeing, institutional expectations, and the realities of workload and culture. My work helps academics re‑align their compass, bringing those elements back together into a direction that feels coherent, sustainable and purposeful.
My calm, approachable nature and active listening help me build trust quickly with academics at all stages. People feel safe to think aloud, explore uncertainty and articulate what they really want.
These insights shape the way I work with academics today: grounded in experience, informed by strategy, and always centred on the person in front of me.
